A Message from Kristina kovarik

Florida House District 57 is made up of community’s people truly care about. From the waterfront neighborhoods of Dunedin and Tarpon Springs to the homes and business corridors of Palm Harbor, East Lake, Oldsmar, and Safety Harbor, residents share a strong sense of pride in where they live. Along with that pride comes concern about how rapid growth, rising costs, and decisions made in Tallahassee are affecting daily life across northern Pinellas County.

Kristina Kovarik

is a Dunedin native who returned home after decades of professional leadership, public service, and smallbusiness ownership. Her background includes more than twenty years in elected municipal leadership, experience working with tight budgets, and a long career in financial services. Those experiences have shaped a practical, steady approach to problemsolving—one that emphasizes accountability, transparency, and collaboration.

“…a practical, steady approach to problemsolving—one that emphasizes accountability, transparency, and collaboration.”

Kristina decided to run for the Florida House because she believes state government works best when it reflects local priorities and respects the people closest to the issues.

In conversations across District 57, residents often raise the same themes, even if the details differ by community. In Dunedin and Safety Harbor, people talk about preserving community character while making sure infrastructure keeps up with growth. In Palm Harbor, East Lake and Oldsmar traffic congestion, insurance costs, and school funding come up again and again. In Tarpon Springs, residents frequently focus on water quality, coastal resilience, and balancing a strong local economy with environmental protection. While the specifics vary, the underlying expectation is consistent: thoughtful, responsible decision making.

Kristina’s legislative priorities grow directly out of these conversations. One focus is strengthening local decision-making so cities and towns have the flexibility to respond to their own residents.

Local leaders are often best positioned to understand zoning, development, and planning challenges, and state policy should support—not override—that local knowledge.

“Protecting Florida’s water and natural resources is another key area of focus.”

Clean waterways and resilient coastlines are not abstract issues in District 57—they affect property values, tourism, public health, and everyday quality of life. Addressing these challenges requires longterm planning, coordination with local governments, and careful stewardship of natural resources.

Affordability is also a growing concern throughout northern Pinellas County.

Rising insurance premiums, housing costs, and everyday expenses affect families, working professionals, retirees, and smallbusiness owners alike. Drawing on her experience in finance, small business ownership and municipal government, Kristina emphasizes economic stability, workforce opportunity, and policies that support sustainable local economies that allow everyone to thrive.

“Finally, Kristina believes effective representation starts with accessibility and transparency.”

Finally, Kristina believes effective representation starts with accessibility and transparency.

Residents expect clear communication, responsiveness, and a willingness to listen. Serving in the Florida House means showing up in all north Pinellas communities, staying engaged, and bringing those local perspectives into statelevel discussions.

Representing District 57 means respecting what makes each community unique while addressing shared challenges with care, consistency, and a longterm view of what will best serve the people who call this area home.
